THURSDAY 7th FEBRUARY 1980

Steve tells me that Graham spoke to him and suggested that instead of strike action by the sixth form it would show good school spirit if he agreed to wood plane off the graffiti from the desk after which they would say not more about it. Steve agreed, surprised at the climb down from her attitude of the previous day. Graham seems to have seen some sense about this, which seem pretty bloody odd to me!

Editors note. Clearly Cook was not privy to the conversation between Graham and Orme

It’s all a bit pointless, within days the desk will be covered with far worse obscenities than Steve’s musings on life and love. Graffiti is epidemic in this school, all the desks and some of the chairs are covered in, interestingly, there is not so much on the walls and the caretaker and cleaners seem to deal with what there is pretty quickly. In general the foyer in the middle of the school is much cleaner than the west and east wings of the buildings. I would imagine that the out buildings of the gym and wood/metalwork rooms were a lot less clean - I can't be certain since I have visited neither in the last 3 years...come to think about it, I could not be too certain about many of the classrooms either.
